奶黄酥皮月餅, 嘉麟樓, 半島酒店

We took the star ferry to Tsim Tsa Tsui after dinner at Restaurant Yung Kee. Our first stop at TST is Peninsula Hotel as we have to collect the famous handmade mooncake (奶黃酥皮月餅) from Spring Moon Chinese Restaurant (嘉麟樓,半島酒店) which we have already pre-book and paid for it before we leave for the trip. It is advice to pre-book the mooncake to prevent disappointment.

mooncake

The mooncake was so tiny and it cost HKD198 for eight pieces, anyway it was delicious.

When we are at the hotel to collect the mooncake, I saw there is a notice saying that all of the handmade mooncake are sold off. However the mooncake which made by the food factory are still available. There is no preservative use for this handmade mooncake, so it has to be keeping inside the fridge.

The next stop is Kowloon Hotel which is located next to Peninsula Hotel. Yes, we order mooncake from them too. It was much cheaper, selling at HKD148 with 30% discount (HKD103.60 after discount) for order received before 31 Aug 2009. So, we submit our order before 31 August and inform to collect the mooncake by September.

By the time we reach Kowloon Hotel, the mooncake counter is about to close and lucky that we reach there a minute before. With both hands full of mooncake, we decided to return to the hotel for a rest. Instead of taking MTR, we decided walk from TST to our hotel, which made us even more tire!!!

Restaurant Yung Kee 鏞記酒家

After spending like 30 minutes at H&M, we then heading to Restaurant Yung Kee for the famous roasted goose and its century egg. Knowing that it was Sunday and the restaurant might be pack and hard to get a seat if without prior reservation made, I sms msau to check if she is coming soon and need me to make a last-minute reservation for her.

We didn’t order much, but only half roasted goose, fried rice for the kids and of course, the century eggs. The roasted goose is not as tasty as what I thought, but the century egg is very delicious! The century egg was served as tit bit, half century eggs for each guest. The portion is too little for such tasty century egg, so ends up I order another one century eggs to satisfy my stomach.

It was quite an expensive dinner, we paid HKD 413.10 for it.
